In Iran Muslims feed each other licking and kissing the surfaces of the Hażrat-é Maʿsūmeh shrine in the Iranian city of Qom, thus challenging what the Government has imposed to deal with the coronavirus epidemic that is recording the latest official data in the country, mentioned affecting 1,500 people causing the death of 66 people, the highest figure outside of China.
The religious leaders apparently refuse the advice of the Ministry of Health to close the sacred places where thousands of people find themselves every day, in order to curb the spread of the infection.
The surfaces of the sanctuaries found in these cities are licked and kissed by the faithful because they are considered as "places of healing". As shown in the video taken and also distributed by the Daily Mail, a citizen wanted to challenge the warnings and is filmed while deliberately licking the scientific sanctuary of the city of Mashhad, and then posting the video on the web.
The man was arrested by the authorities on February 29th. Its identity remains unknown. It is different by saying that the coronavirus, all within the Shiite shrines, has no effect. Like him, many believe that the virus in those places not affected. Most of the contagions in Iran are concentrated in the city of Qom: children were also surprised to lick and kiss in the shrines.
