A BOYFRIEND has been accused of forcing his partner’s seven-year-old son into a boiling hot shower, leaving the child with burns on his head.
John Terrell, 27, allegedly made the boy stand under the scorching water as punishment for getting a bad grade at school in March.
The young boy told police Terrell also spanked him and choked him after he got out of the shower at the home in Texas.
Terrell has been charged with injury to a child and the boy's mum, Roekeicha Brisby, has been charged with lying to police and failing to take her son for treatment for two days.
Around 26% of the boy’s body was severely burned in the alleged attack and he suffered a large scar on his chest from the boiling water.
Police said the boy suffered painful burns to his head and torso, leaving him permanently disfigured.
The boy was with his mum at Terrell’s home when he was allegedly forced under the hot water.
The child told an interviewer at the Children's Assessment Center that Terrell had removed the shower head and pointed the hot water toward him.
But Brisby told investigators she was boiling water on the stove when the air conditioner came on in the kitchen.
She said her son leaned down to pick up a basketball and hit the handle of the pot of water with his head when he raised back up, causing the water to fall on the AC.
Detectives later said Brisby fabricated this story.
Terrell and Brisby are both due to appear in court on Monday.
