Five puppies have died after being attacked with corrosive chemicals in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Vets thought at first the dogs had been dropped in boiling water, but later realised they were suffering from chemical burns when one of them kept throwing up.
Animal welfare group Natha Satwa Nusantara said the puppies had likely licked the liquid from their wounds, with it then causing sores in their digestive tracts.
It is believed the young dogs were attacked by a relative of their owner on Sunday November 3.
Four of the puppies died the next day, with the organisation writing online that their ‘four tails went into God’s hands one-by-one.’
The fifth dog was named Deadpool in hopes that he would be as ‘strong and immortal’ as the Marvel character.
Vets noted that the puppy had ‘unresponsive’ vision, and was sleeping sitting up as it was more comfortable for him than lying down.

Sadly he died the next morning on November 5.
Natha Satwa Nusantara shared an illustration on their Instagram which showed Deadpool meeting his siblings again in dog-heaven.
The picture was captioned: ‘Welcome back, you’ll like it here.’
They also shared a video of Deadpool as a newborn puppy, appearing healthy and happy a month before the attack.
The organisation has now confirmed they have filed a police complaint.
Operations Director Anisa Ratna Kurnia said: ‘The in-law splashed the six dogs, according to [the owenr]. I don’t know why. When we asked, the owner didn’t speak much.
‘The owner and his in-law still maintain good relations.’
