A PREGNANT woman lost her unborn baby after she was punched and kicked by a thief who stole her phone and cash.
Lauren Reece Flay, 25, was on her way to work on the night of Friday, September 13, when she was attacked in Southfield, East Yorkshire moments after she stepped out of the train station.
She says she was attacked by a man she had spotted on her train acting strangely.
But Lauren was devastated the next day when doctors told her she had miscarried, just days after she found out she was pregnant.
'I JUST WANTED TO GO HOME'
She said: "I was only literally early on pregnant. We only found out within that week.
"When the ambulance first came I didn’t have any stomach pain. I just wanted to go home to my son and be in my own kind of place.
"But then on the Saturday I started to have a few pains. When they told me I kind of knew straight away.
"I was shocked but expected it.
"It is s**t to be honest. I was excited about it. I told my sister and my friends that it was something I was really looking forward to."
The thug was described as white, in his 20s, of slim build, wearing a black Northface jacket, grey joggers and a black baseball cap.
Lauren, who has an 11-month-old son, says she saw her attacker before she stepped onto the Hull to Sheffield bound train at Hull Paragon.
She said: "I always get the 8.48pm train and on this evening there was a man in his early 20’s acting strange but I didn’t think too much into it.
"I just thought it’s a Friday night and he might be on something and I didn’t take too much interest.
"He then sat at my table and kept staring at me. He answered his phone and was talking to a mate and it sounded like he was going to Sheffield.
'IT HAS GOT ME SHAKING'
"He then tried to get off the train on the other side where the tracks were, so I told him ‘you've got to get off this side, you don’t want to end up dead’.”
Sensing something was up, Lauren hung back hoping the strange man would pass her - but the thug launched himself on the pregnant mum-of-one, hitting her in the chest.
She said: "I carried on walking and went to put my headphones in and then the next thing I knew he punched me in the chest and then again and then ragged me around.
"He even kicked me in the legs."
Lauren suffered two fractured ribs on her left side and bruising to her chest.
Another man is said to have walked ahead of Lauren and her attacker as they got off the train who she thinks might be able to help.
She's been left feeling vulnerable and nervous after the attack.
Lauren said: "This male was youngish. He looked like a skinny boy.
"He didn’t have anything specific about him or any tattoos I could see or anything like that.
"It is not like he was a big stocky guy so it has got me paranoid to a point where I’m thinking what if he was bigger or had a knife - it has got me shaking.
"I have not really been out of the house since it happened. I have just hibernated.
"You just don’t expect this to happen to you."
