A 39-year-old man fell to the ground from about 100 meters high after the elastic base jump rope broke. The man fell on a mat of those who are placed to deal with unexpected events like these. However, this did not prevent the 39-year-old from finding himself with a broken back and various internal injuries.
It happened in Gdynia in Poland: as the Daily Mail writes, citing the local website Trojmiasto.pl, it was the harness that tied it to the elastic cord held up by a mega crane that serves to simulate throws into the void which are normally carried out by cliffs or bridges.
The man, after the fall was rescued and taken to the hospital with a broken spine and several internal injuries to the organs. Fortunately, the spinal cord has not been severed in the accident and the man, a local resident, will be able to walk again once he has recovered from his various injuries.
The incident, which occurred around 6:00 pm on Sunday 21 July, was captured by two-person cameras. Krzysztof Kuśmierczyk, a Gdynia police official, told Trojmiasto.pl that an investigation has been opened. The police heard both the eyewitnesses present at the scene and the organizers of this event that turned into a near-tragedy.
