Tragedy touched on during a bullfight held at Las Ventas in Madrid. The Valencian bullfighter Roman Collado, was gored by a bull during the show staged in the most important plaza de toros in Spain.
As can also be seen in the video below, Collado suffered a thirty centimeter laceration to the right leg muscle and underwent two surgical procedures. According to the doctors of the San Francisco de Asís hospital, the functionality of the Collado limb is severely impaired due to the gash. The man was seriously injured and now he risks losing his leg function.
What happened brings to mind another show that was held in May in the Las Ventas arena in Madrid. The unfortunate bullfighter, in this case is called Juan Leal: the 26-year-old Frenchman was gored at the backside, raised from the ground and stirred in the air. The audience watched the scene screaming: in the end Leal managed to finish the bullfight by killing the bull, and then he walked away with his white pants pierced and stained with blood.
Once out of the ground, Leal was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery. The doctors who treated him stated that he had a 25 cm wound in the rectum with a possible fracture of the coccyx and a hole in the buttocks. Máximo García Leirado, the surgeon who operated on it, said: "I can't understand how he managed to continue the duel and kill the bull later, because a normal person wouldn't even be able to stand or walk. It was fortunate that the horn hit the sacrum and then slid upwards rather than penetrating the abdomen. The doctors say he should recover fully but will have to rest and avoid infections ".
