An English artist uses the mantle of horses as a canvas for his strange works of art
There are artists for whom the canvas is not enough, constantly searching for new forms of expression to be able to show their art. Melody Cannon, English, is one of them. In fact, his paintings are mantles of horses, on which he produces his own drawings.
The hair of the animals is cut giving particular shapes that, initially, were very simple: stars, hearts, etc. Slowly, however, these drawings have become increasingly complex, with the requests of numerous horse owners to decorate their own.
As it is easy to imagine, there was no lack of negative criticism from those who claimed that a horse should not be used in this way. In reality it would appear that cuts of this type on the hair are beneficial for horses, helping them to stay healthier.
Indeed, what Melody does is simply cut off the hair of horses, without any form of constriction or violence. The works are made in several sessions, so as not to stress too much the animals that still seem to appreciate this strange care of their mantle!
