Giving children smartphones and tablets is no longer just a problem of educational choices: at stake is the greeting of children, as they have been discovered in the development of language.
To "enlighten" us on this topic is a research by the University of Toronto which, for the first time, brings out the unfortunate consequences of the use of mobile phones and tablets by very young children.
It is not uncommon to see a child not yet able to speak with the familiarity of the mother's or dad's cell phone: a sign of intelligence or a disturbing reality? According to the University of Toronto experts, the child is much more likely to be exposed to risks than benefits.
According to scholars, in fact, children who do not speak yet are tablets and smartphones are more in touch with other delays in language. The conclusions are based on a study that saw children in six years of age, and that related the time of execution of activity and duration of the use of technological devices.
The study shows that it is the use that makes smartphones and tablets, is the risk of language delays. In particular, difficulties are perceived in the language of thought in social relations.
The reason can be traced back to the work that the activities are related to.
The notice was given by the American association of pediatricians: it should be longer than 18 months.
Much more useful and beneficial is performing activities with children, ranging from telling stories to singing songs together and conversing with them
