Ruby in 2011 received from Silvio Berlusconi "a payment of 5 million euro made through the Antigua Commercial Bank bank of Antigua on an account at a bank in Mexico" and in particular 2 million "were given to Luca Risso", former partner , and 3 "were made to transit from Mexico to Dubai and are exclusively from Ruby". The lawyer Egidio Verzini, repeats all'Asa, statements already made also at L'Espresso four years ago, on the treasure given to the girl who wanted to pass for nephew of the former Egyptian president. Verzini 7 years ago was the lawyer of the young woman who once again decided "to renounce the obligation of professional secrecy" on the case for an "ethical and moral duty".
The lawyer Verzini was legal by Ruby between June and July 2011, the fourth in the long sequence of lawyers. The trial of Berlusconi, which ended with a definitive acquittal, began in April. The lawyer then announced that "the relationship of trust" had disappeared with Karima El Mahroug - who in an interception said he had to pretend to be mad about money and fame - and left the office. And a couple of years later he said that Ruby wanted "to be a civil party" but that there were "states of external interventions". On other occasions he released statements to the press and was heard by the prosecutors in the Ruby ter case for which Berlusconi is on trial, along with 27 other defendants, for corruption in court documents.
"After a long and careful evaluation - the lawyer writes in a statement - I consider my ethical and moral duty to make public what really happened in the Ruby affair, so I decided to renounce the obligation of professional secrecy independently assuming every responsibility". The "Ruby operation", he claims, "entirely directed by the lawyer Ghedini with the collaboration of Luca Risso (put alongside Ruby to control it), originally envisaged the payment" of "7 million euros, of which 1 million for me and 1 million for the person appointed by Ghedini to accompany me in the operation ".
After having "analyzed the situation", he adds, "I proposed a different defensive line (legal and not illegal) that provided for the constitution of a civil party against Emilio Fede and, at the time of payment, consequent renunciation, a proposal that Ruby had shared and accepted. My proposal - he explains - was rejected by Ghedini-Risso, so I did not continue the operation as they proposed, as the professional and personal risk for me was very high ".
Verzini states that Ruby, "has received a payment of 5 million euros made through Antigua Commercial Bank of Antigua on an account at a bank in Mexico in the locality of Playa del Carmen, but I do not know the name". The money arrived in Mexico, according to the lawyer, were divided: "2 million euros were given to Luca Risso, who bought the Sofia restaurant in Playa del Carmen, a villa in Playa del Carmen and a building plot on Cozumel Island (all this is the exclusive property of Risso, Ruby has nothing to do with it); 3 million euros were sent from Mexico to Dubai and are exclusively from Ruby ". Berlusconi, concludes the lawyer, "was aware from the beginning of the minor age of Ruby, which is why he gave the money". But the Supreme Court, in the motivations in which it confirmed the absolution decided by the judges of the second degree, claimed that the former premier was not aware of the "minor age" of Ruby. At first instance the judges had sentenced him to 7 years.
"The statements made today at a distance of more than seven years from the lawyer Verzini who for a month has witnessed Karima el Mahroug said Ruby are totally deprived of any basis and will be prosecuted in every seat" says in a statement the lawyer Niccolò Ghedini, historical defender of Silvio Berlusconi. "There have never been direct or indirect contacts - he adds - neither with the lawyer Verzini nor with Luca Risso to obtain money from Karima el Mahroug".
