After the era of organic supermarkets comes the departments entirely plastic-free: in the city of Amsterdam the Ekoplaza chain announces that in one of its stores has opened a department in which all the products on display are ecologically packaged.
The initiative was based on consumer demands and in collaboration with the environmental association "A Plastic Planet", a group that firmly believes in the possibility of eliminating plastic from our lives.
This organic supermarket displays 680 products packed with biodegradable packaging.
Glass, metal, paper and bio-films that degrade within 12 weeks in the compost bin: at the Ekoplaza located in Jan Pieter Heijestraat one makes history or, as the promoters of the initiative say, "the first step towards a plastic world -free ".
"Plastic-free departments represent an innovative way to test all those alternative, bio and compostable materials that allow us to be more environmentally friendly," said Ekoplaza CEO, Erik Does.
If the experiment is successful, it will soon reach the other 74 stores in the Dutch chain.
